INDONESIA DATA PRIVACY AND PROTECTION SYMPOSIUM

A. BACKGROUND

On 17th October 2022 last year, the Government of Indonesia has enacted the Law Number 27 of 2022 about Personal Data Protection (“PDP Law”) which strengthen the urgency of personal data protection in Indonesia for various sector from government agency, state-owned enterprises, companies, and other industries. The consequences from the existence of UU PDP are raising some rights and obligations to all stakeholder regarding personal data protection which must be complied.

 

As a form of commitment to support the implementation of personal data protection which is mandated by the PDP Law, in 2022, Xynexis International supported by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kemkominfo) together with other parties had successfully held the first “Indonesia Data privacy and Protection Symposium” (IDPPS) which discussed about the baseline of personal data protection and related aspects of personal data protection from other perspectives.

 

The effectiveness of the implementation of PDP Law is targeted to be optimally implemented within 2 (two) years from the legalization date of PDP Law. There are diverse challenges to all stakeholders in successfully implementing personal data protection, including adjustment on implementing personal data’s principles and processing procedure, data protection officer (DPO), deletion and disposal mechanism, data retention period of personal data and other challenges. Furthermore, until now there arestill derivative regulations / implementing regulations that are yet to exist.

 

In an effort to support the effectiveness of implementation of personal data protection which aligns with applicable provisions, continuing on the success of IDPPS in 2022, Xynexis International will once again be holding a symposium that promotes and discusses the implementation of personal data protection in various sectors. This year, “2nd Indonesia Data Privacy and Protection Symposium (IDPPS)” raising a theme on Data Privacy and Protection : Implementation and Its Challenges.

 

2nd IDPPS will be an international seminar event which will be held by Xynexis International supported by Kemkominfo together with other parties.

B. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE

The purposes of holding the “2nd Indonesia Data Privacy and Protection Symposium (IDPPS)” are :

 

  1. Obtain feedback from speakers regarding the implementation of Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).
  2. Obtain input and recommendation from speakers on how the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law) can be implemented effectively.

 

  1. Obtain views from speakers about the problem or potential problem that will occur/experienced by each stakeholder in realizing the goals of Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).

 

The objectives of holding the “2nd Indonesia Data Privacy and Protection Symposium (IDPPS)” are :

 

  1. Provide a platform for all professionals, experts, authority officers, and researchers of data protection to meet, to discuss, to have a dialogue, collaborate, and sharing knowledge regarding data protection law, compliance, as well as new technology.
  2. Creating awareness about the importance of respecting, and protecting privacy, maintaining data, and also building trust.

The event will be held on:

Time: 08.30 am – done
Venue : Marriott Hotel – Yogyakarta, Indonesia

E. PARTICIPANTS

The target number of participants is 250 – 300 participants consisting of speakers and participants from various sectors such as the Health Service sector, Finance, Banking, E-Commerce, Telecommunications, Electronic Certification Providers (PsrE) and so on.

F. METHODS

The method that will be used is a structured discussion that begins with the delivery of views or knowledge from each speaker, then continues with responses from all participants regarding the issues.

G. CLOSING

Thus, this Term of Reference (TOR) is made as a basis in supporting the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP Law).
